This is so hard to believe, but my first year of medical school is over. Done. Behind me. I’m 1/4 of the way to becoming a doctor!! That thought is kind of scary, but cool at the same time. I hard to believe how fast time flies. It feels like yesterday that I was dissecting a human body for the first time.

A lot has happened this past school year and I figured it be good to take a moment to just recollect what has occurred.

Matriculated into medical school
Moved to a city/downtown area for the first time
Joined class council as Historian (first time ever participating in student government)
Learned how to interview/talk to patients and not feel nervous
Chosen to be Treasurer and Vice President of two other student groups
Became not single and started dating Angela, my wonderful girlfriend who is supportive and very much a foodie like me
Survived first year of medical school and established myself as the instagram/hashtag/youtube/photographer guy

There are probably a few other things I forgot that were also pretty big, but I’ll add them later if I remember. It feels great to be on my way to becoming a doctor. I’m 1/4 of the way done and I’m still not discouraged by the amount of work and stress it has been so far. That’s not to say it doesn’t suck at times, but it’ll be worth it in the end!

I’ve started my position in a lab doing research under the SRTP grant. Get some money and research experience and hopefully fit in some shadowing time in between it all. I also want to travel, relax and enjoy my last summer ever. My goals for this summer are

Start up my youtube channel again. It’s fallen behind since school took over
Play and beat several games in my backlog including: Crysis 3, Hitman Absolution, Syndicate, Bioshock Infinite (replay on 1999 mode) and many more probably
Restart the food blog that I started with Angela
Go hiking, camping and be active
Workout everyday
Eat lots of yummy food

It seems so much, but it’s also so little. I simply want to enjoy my time before second year comes around to kick me in the face. 3 months and counting!
